Eric Wilson - Fine Artist
High Peak, Derbyshire - United Kingdom
Eric Wilson has established himself as one of Britain's leading wildlife artists, a multi-award winner
whose paintings are now widely collected throughout the world.
His artistic ability was evident from his earliest schooldays; 'Eric has an artistic talent way beyond his
years' wrote his art teacher in 1967.
As a child of Scottish parentage, Eric would spend his formative years roaming the highland
mountains of Scotland where his lifelong love of wild places was born. It was natural and inevitable
that Eric would combine his talent with his love of wildlife and become a wildlife artist.
Eric has exhibited widely in both Europe and the United States. He has exhibited at the Florida
Wildlife and Western Art Exposition. His paintings have appeared in magazines and books such as
'The Best of Wildlife Art' and 'Keys to Painting Fur and Feathers', by North Light Books. He has done
commissioned work for companies such as the Bradford Exchange and has had his work published as
fine art prints. Original paintings are auctioned by Christies in London and sold through private
commission.
Accuracy & attention to detail are hallmarks of Eric's work, his adventurous research trips take him to some of the remotest wilderness areas on
the planet. In Rwanda and Zaire he has sat face to face with mountain Gorillas, he has been charged by black rhino whilst on foot in
Zimbabwe, camped out on the Serengeti plains, canoed the Zambezi and Lake Kariba, tracked tigers on elephant back in the jungles of the
Royal Chitwan National Park in Nepal. Seen grizzly bears up close in the Canadian Rockies, swam with Killer Whales off the coast of Vancouver
Island and spent literally years exploring the remote Glens of the Scottish Highlands.
Eric also considers the occasional portrait commission. He has twice painted the portrait of the super middleweight champion of the world, Mr
Nigel Benn.
